Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
This policy describes what data we collect on gatorgeeks.com, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. Plain language, short version: we collect very little, and what we collect is used to run the site and respond to inquiries.
What we collect
Information you give us. If you fill out the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and the contents of your message. We do not run lead forms with hidden tracking pixels or shadow CRMs.
Information collected automatically. Our hosting provider logs basic request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for security and abuse prevention. These logs are retained for 30 days. We use first-party analytics (PostHog, self-hosted via our practice domain) to count page views and understand which Field Notes posts get read. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Cookies. See our cookie policy for the specific cookies used and how to control them.
What we do not collect
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We do not run third-party advertising trackers. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other surveillance-grade analytics on this site. We do not collect protected health information (PHI) through this website. Client work involving PHI happens on separate, BAA-covered infrastructure, never here.
How we use the data
Contact form submissions are used to respond to your inquiry. Server logs are used for security. Analytics are used to understand which content is useful and to improve the site. That is the whole list.
Who we share it with
We share data with infrastructure providers strictly to run the site: our hosting provider (xCloud), our CDN (Cloudflare), and our transactional email provider (Postmark). We do not share contact data with marketing platforms, ad networks, or data brokers.
How long we keep it
Contact form submissions are retained for up to 18 months after the conversation ends, then deleted. Server logs: 30 days. Analytics events: 90 days. Backups containing site data: 30 days.
Your rights
You can request a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request to the address on our contact page. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, you have rights under GDPR. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA. The rights above apply in either case.
Security
The site runs on hardened infrastructure with TLS encryption, regular updates, and isolated database access. We use strong passwords and two-factor authentication on all admin accounts. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
